Doug Eyre: Artist, Designer, and Caricaturist

Doug's life has been devoted to Art professionally, personally and commercially.

Formal studies: technical training and figure drawing expanded his natural ability, evident at a very early age. Post formal studies he honed his commercial skills: lettering, technical illustrating, silkscreen printing, murals, signs, and design work when running his business, building up a significant reputation for attention to detail, quality, accuracy and lightning sketches.

After a formidable 20-year career as an artist in the world of Formula 1: working on cars and helmets doe McLarens, Hill, Williams, Stewart – the tartan band on his helmets were hand painted by Doug, he moved the less stressful world of Caricature Art for major companies and sporting events from 1990 to 2003.

A master of oils, water colour and acrylics he paints or lectures full-time. He has taught art since his mid-twenties, was a tutor at Farncombe Estate adult learning centre from its opening in 2003 to i2012 and Artist in Residence at Broadway Museum and Art Gallery from its opening to 2022.

He works on commissions and his own themes inspired by visual acuteness, harmony of line, colour, and the subject of the day. On request he adds trompe- l'oeil, as interior design, to his offerings.

He has exhibited around the UK in Berkshire, Sussex, Cornwall and Worcestershire, His paintings have sold to clients in Australia, California, New York, New Zealand, France, as well as the UK.

He loves to teach and share his skills and continues to lecturer on Caricature Art, Graphics in Motor Racing and the History of HMS Broadway and its role in the capture of the naval enigma machine that reduced the 2nd World War by 2 years.
